SoundBite 2 - Be Accountable For Your Energy

Your energy affects everyone around you, especially the children.

When an educator arrives frustrated, withdrawn or tense, it can quickly show up in their tone, body language and interactions. Other educators may become defensive, communication can break down, and children may become unsettled or reactive.

Positive energy does not mean pretending to be happy all day. It means noticing what you are bringing into the room and taking practical steps to reset before it affects others.

Pause before responding. Ask for support when you need it. Lower your voice. Take a breath. Refocus on what the children and your team need from you.

We all have difficult moments, but accountability means not expecting everyone else to carry the emotional impact of them.

Help Your Team Reset Their Energy

Helping educators manage their energy is not about asking them to “be more positive.” It is about giving them practical tools to recognise when they are drifting, reset their behaviour and return to what the team and children need.

Between the Flags helps teams create clear expectations, respond to pressure more calmly and take responsibility for the energy they bring into the room.
